This section is devoted to the music of the 1980’s. I was born in 1972 making me part of Gen X and our main time of growing up and developing was the eighties. In 1980 I was 8 and in second grade. By 1989, I was seventeen and a sophomore in high school. (I started school when I was six instead of seven so I was one of the older ones in my class: the first to drive, the first to vote, etc.) The eighties were a magical time in the music landscape. Synthesizers were all the rage, R&B and pop could mix freely, there were country cross overs and lots of indie darlings. (Although we didn’t really call them alternative way back then.) It was a great ride and forever lives on in movie soundtracks, karaoke bars and radio stations geared towards my demographic.
