I came across someone on YouTube mentioning that Rolling Stone had compiled this list and decided that 1984 was “Pop’s Greatest Year” and yes, it is pretty great! All the hits I grew up with are here and I want to review each one (yes, that will be another ongoing project on this site!) This will be a great way for me to reconnect with all the music that was popular when I was in fourth grade and 1982 I have deemed the year I started liking music of my own taste and not influenced by family. So “Let’s Go Crazy“!

THIS POST WILL BE UPDATED ON A REGULAR BASIS AS I WORK MY WAY THROUGH THE CHART. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE =)

100-91

100. Corey Hart – “Sunglasses At Night

You have to hand it to Corey Hart for writing a song that lives on and just oozes coolness right? No matter how old or young you are, this song is world renowned liked! It is catchy with that great eighties synthesizer sound but yet it transcends the eighties very easily (especially in today’s music where I feel so much of the eighties are being used as inspiration). It was a staple on the radio that year and you know you can’t have an eighties themed party or playlist without this one on there. BONUS: My favorite Corey Hart song is “Never Surrender“.

99. Scandal feat. Patty Smyth – “The Warrior

Patti Smyth had the chops in the Eighties. Great rock voice and was once tapped to front Van Halen after David Lee Roth’s exit! This song is still kick ass after all these years and looking back at who wrote it, Holly Knight and Nick Glider, it was destined to be a powerhouse of a song! Bonus: Another favorite Patty Smyth song is “Goodbye To You“.
